Performance and Trending for the IT Environment
See the bigger picture. The IT Environment view provides a summary level comparison of the performance and health of application stacks within the environment. The scores are updated daily and the user can toggle between a predefined set of historical time periods. The scope of the application stacks displayed in the view can be sliced and diced using tags. Compare application stacks against each other to determine leaders and those that require attention.
How are application stacks performing compared to their peers?
The stack score quadrants display the relative performance over time.
The Score Trend quadrant displays the health of an application stack relative to its peers and its change over the selected time period. In this example, the Customer Web Application stack experienced decreasing trend in its health over the past 30 days. Accordingly, we recommend that this stack is closely watched for any additional performance impacts.
The Application Score quadrant displays the health of an application stack relative to its peers distinguished by its predominant mix of internal and external clients. An external client is one that is found outside the specified network and an internal client is one found inside the specified network.
Performance and Trending for the Application Stack
The Application Stack view provides a comparison of the performance and health of devices within a stack. This view highlights the issues that are most prevalent within the stack and the most impacted devices to enable the user to focus on the areas that are most critical.
How are my application stacks performing over time?
Time series graphs in four key areas are included that provide the user with historical performance. These key areas are: Top Performing, Bottom Performing, Improving and Declining application stacks.
Performance and Trending for Device Metrics
The Device Metrics view provides a deep-dive into the performance of a device and reports on key metrics for the specified time period and on an aggregated hourly basis. The Device Details view provides the user with a device-level lens for both inventory and performance analytics on the selected device. Inventory analytics are displayed across the analytics banner at the top of the page. Performance analytics are collected hourly and presented as both a time series trend and as a snapshot of performance on an hourly basis over a typical day.
How are my devices performing over time?
All licensed devices in the selected stack are trended by score over the selected time period.
The typical day chart aggregates the metric for each hour of the day for the selected time period. Both the average and maximum values for the hour are plotted. Selecting instances allows you to drill down to specific processors on a CPU or ports on a network interface for example.
The performance of a metric is trended in the time series graph for the selected time period. The hourly minimum, maximum and average values are plotted across time.
What issues are occurring on each device?
A table of the issues per device is available for a detailed analysis. The table includes details about each issue and its score on the device on which the issue was seen.
About the table fields:
- Current device score - the most recent overall device score
- Instance - the most granular level that issues are measured; since a device can have more than one hard drive, or other similar item, the 'instance' is the unique identifier for each of the items where an issue is measured
- Issue - the name of the issue
- Issue description - the description of the issue
- Issue score - the score of the issue on the device
Performance and Trending Use Cases
Are you using a different system for cloud vs. on-premises applications? Have you confirmed that issues that existed on-premises (storage, latency, etc.) are not happening in the cloud?
